ULTRAPURE GLACIAL CLAY

Glacial Clay Home--- Methodology--- FAQ

A. History & Research

Located near the shoreline, glacial clay is lands based and inter tidal clay that at some point in history was submerged beneath the tidal waters of the B.C. coast for tens of thousands of years. Found in the remote Pacific islands of North Western Canada, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean in this uninhabited wilderness among some of the world's roughest waterways, it is from this naturally guarded area that the treasured green/grey glacial clay is found in rare deposits.

A leading scientist, from the United States of America, an expert on rare clays of the world, devoted a year to a study of glacial clay deposits. He stated, " You have in British Columbia, a natural product which has no parallel in the world today. I am perfectly prepared to put my reputation as an international scientist at stake in saying that this product is unique in every way". Another expert in clay, a professor of analytical chemistry at the University of British Columbia stated, "The clay contains rare elements and rare earth's".

Medical doctors and Naturopathic practitioners are currently recommending clays of different types for a host of ailments and conditions, with extremely encouraging results. Ancient peoples of various civilizations (including Greece and Rome) were well aware of the benefits of natural clays and used them extensively. The animal kingdom instinctively uses natural riverbed clays, silt and sediments for healing a host of injuries. Veterinarians in North America and Europe who have tried clay on animals are very impressed with the results, some of which have been spectacular.

B. Features & Benefits

An important feature of Glamarines glacial clay is the infinitesimal size of its particles, which, because of their amazing absorptive ability and net negative ion charge, attract most positively charged bacteria, thereby detoxifying and deep cleansing the skin. The clay exfoliates away dead skin cells and helps stimulate blood circulation in the newly exposed skin cells. The skin feels refreshed, alive and glowing. Softening of the skin texture helps to smooth out wrinkles and may slow the aging of the skin. The clay has a natural pH balance between 6.5 and 7.3, which is an excellent range. Easy to apply and remove, the use of the clay mask is an exhilarating, fun and relaxing experience. Due to its many features and benefits, Glamarines glacial clay is considered to be the 'crème de la crème' of clays for cosmetic and therapeutic applications.

Endorsement of the ability of natural clay to provide therapeutic value for a number of physical problems are to be found in the books entitled "Our Earth, Our Cure" and "The Living Clay". Listed below are some of the uses which natural clay has been put to over the years.
- Cosmetic facial and body masks for skin improvement.
- Poultice and compresses for bruising and injuries.
- Salve for burns, cuts and scalds.
- Toothpaste and shampoo.
- Athletes foot.
- Bee stings and insect bites.
- Various veterinarian applications.

C.Physical Properties

Generally, clay properties are assessed by six criteria:
- Mineral composition.
- Non-mineral composition.
- Texture.
- Ion exchange characteristics.
- Organic material.
- Soluble salts.

Glamarine glacial clay belongs to the green family of clays. According to Raymond Dextreit, an expert on clays and the author of the book 'Our Earth, Our Cure', the green family of clays are the most desirable and the only type recommended for ingestion. The clays colloidal structure means that the clay is formed in particles as fine as the mist in a fog bank. To be classified as colloidal, the particles of the material must not exceed .001 millimeters in size. They may be so infinitesimal as to be invisible under a powerful microscope. A cubic inch of these particles would have a total surface area of more than five thousand square inches. This tremendous surface area of the clays colloidal particles accounts for its incredible absorptive action.

Glacial clay can be used directly from the ground. It reveals a smooth texture when rubbed between the fingers. This fine texture can be enhanced with proper screening and the addition of the correct amount of water. The greenish/blue/grey clay is a homogeneous mass of a soft putty-like consistency when first removed from the clay beds. Over the years, "systems studies have included chemical analysis, x-ray diffraction, ultra and electron-photomicrography and electrophoretic studies that show the clay mined is a natural product composed of quartz and mica, representing a small course fraction, or grit, and an aluminum silicate, the particles of which are of such small dimension that some of them cannot be made clearly distinguishable even with the electron microscope".

When glacial clay is mixed, whipped or beaten with a rotary blade, the clay's consistency changes. It goes from a dense, hard packed lumpy condition to a free flowing, less viscose, almost meringue like texture. After being processed the clay is easier to work with and can be filled into jars, bottles and tubes with the minimum of difficulty.

In tests conducted over the past twenty years it has been found that most clays have a pH factor range from 7-14 on the alkaline side of the scale. Glamarines glacial colloidal clay has a pH factor of 6.5 to 7.3, as close to neutral as possible. This is very desirable for skin and hair applications. Glamarines clay in its natural state has moisture content of 35.5%. Unit weight (wet) is 109-lb./cu foot. Specific gravity is 2.75. When comparing the percentage of mineral content, with other clays, the Glamarine clay is closest to the Delft Marl which is approximately 50-64% silica, 13-15% aluminum and 4-10% iron. Chemical composition of Glamarines glacial colloidal clay is:
- Silicon50 to 64%
- Aluminum13 to 15%
- Iron6 to 10%
- Calcium4 to 10%
- Sodium2 to 4%
- Magnesium2 to 6%
- Potassiumup to 2%
Plus more than 25 minor minerals including traces of rare earths.

Benefits for a Variety of skin conditions including burns, bites, cuts and bruises are well documented. Glamarine glacial clay is effective on normal, oily, dry and troubled skin.

B. Carrier for Other Cosmetics

Glamarine glacial clay makes an excellent carrier for many cosmetic, therapeutic and medicinal applications such as Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, cosmetic oils and many other cosmetic and medical compounds.

C. Veterinarian Use

There is minimal documented research; however, results from a number of veterinarian applications are very encouraging. Successful use on cats and dogs for skin disorders such as mange has been reported. Horse breeders have used the clay on horse's legs for cuts and reported the wounds stopped festering and the clay assisted the healing process in the faster formation of new healthy skin tissue.

D. Mining and Processing.

Glamarine Products Inc. is committed to producing as natural a clay product as possible. When the clay has been mined from the mineral layers where it has been deposited by nature it is processed in the following manner. In most instances the moisture content of the clay is such that no consistency adjustment is necessary. Pure water is added, if necessary, and the clay is stirred and processed by filtering through successively finer screens to remove any larger particles or gravel which it might contain. When the silky smooth clay is separated an internationally accepted biocide (0.3% by weight) is added to retard bacterial growth and prolong the shelf life for the consumer. The clay is then packaged into containers and is ready for shipping. In this way the consumer is assured of receiving a product that is 99.7% pure.

E. Application and Removal of the Clay Mask.

Directions for Use:

Shake or squeeze the tube before use. Rinse the face or body with warm water and pat dry. Apply 1/16 to 1/8-inch layer of clay over the skin, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Allow the mask to dry to its natural colour (15-20 minutes). Remove with a damp cloth or sponge.

Use 2-3 times per week for normal skin, more frequently for oily skin.

This is an exhilarating, relaxing and fun experience which leaves the skin feeling refreshed, super soft, smooth, alive, clean and glowing.

Glamarines 'Naturally Balanced Facial and Body Mask' is an experience that men and women of all ages can benefit from and enjoy.
