Frequently Asked Questions

The following is a short version of the differences between Glacial Clay and competing clays on the world market. To best understand the fundamental and subtle differences the following has been set out in a question and answer format. It is essential to realize that there are four major clays on the market today. Namely; The Dead Sea Mud originating in the Middle East, the Moorbad Mud from Europe, the White Clays from the middle western United States and the true Glacial Clay from the north western British Columbia coast of which there are two types, inter-tidal and dryland.
Q.What is the difference between inter-tidal and dry land clay.
A.Inter-tidal means the clay has been covered by water 50% of the time, because of this, there is a high bacterial count due to the micro organisms which die off, when the clay is harvested.
Q.Can bacteria be harmful to the body or skin?
A.It is possible, for this reason those companies supplying the market with inter-tidal clay, mix in, a strong anti-bacterial agent to guard against bacterial growth in hot climates. The Inter-tidal clay, has been exposed to the elements for thousands of years, subjected to sun light and the release of ozone, natural living organisms of the sea have lived and died in the clay. The colour has changed from the natural deep blue to a dark gray green. The Dry-land clay has been covered by a natural overburden for the same length of time. Because of this natural protection the clay, when first dug, is a deep blue colour which indicates the retention of natural ozone. There is no chance of any contamination due to the overburden so the product is much purer. Both clays turn to a beautiful aqua green when dried.
Q.Is there any difference in the chemical or mineral analysis of these two clays?
A.Basically no, there may be a slight difference in the level of silicate, slightly lower in the dry land clay.
Q.Does a change in temperature from an extreme high to freezing make a difference.
A.Freezing temperatures will definitely not be harmful to Glacial Clay, neither will hot or boiling temperatures providing the clay has been prepared properly. Long exposure to hot humid climate conditions may be harmful.
Q.What about the difference in the other clays or mud that are on the market.
A.Dead Sea Mud is basically similar to Glacial Clay. The large difference is the level of sodium when it is first dug. It is dug on the shores of the Dead Sea and because of that, the salt levels are very high. It then has to be washed to remove the sodium and in doing so there is a slight loss of trace minerals. This is the largest selling clay in the world and its use dates back to Cleopatra. It is a good product with sales over $50,000,000.00 US per year. Moorbad Mud comes mainly from Europe. The chemical and mineral analysis is nothing like the Glacial Clays. This clay or mud is widely used in Spa's all over the world and is very well accepted by the public. Sales are not as large as the Dead Sea Mud but are still substantial. The White Clays of the United States are not in the same league as the above three. This product is widely used, but for a different purpose. While it is used directly on the skin the main usage is as a filler or carrier in cosmetic compounds. The tonnage of this clay is as large as the Dead Sea Mud but the acceptance is nowhere as great. The analysis falls short of Glacial Clay. If you look closely at the labels of the major cosmetic companies you will notice that some of them use White Clay as a base.
Q.It looks obvious from what you say that Glacial Clay is superior to any of the other major clays on the market. If this is so why is Glacial Clay and this company in particular not ahead in world sales.
A.The company is relatively new; the marketing strategy is to get samples into the hands of major cosmetic wholesalers in at least 26 countries. The majority of these have already received samples. The aim is to be in touch with every establishment in the world capable of using Glacial Clay.
Q.If this is merely an ancient lump of mud how come you charge so much.
A.First of all it is a very rare lump of mud, extremely hard to locate. (gold is nothing but an inert lump of metal very hard to locate) The cost of recovering and processing this elusive element of nature is extremely time consuming and costly. Secondly, the benefits derived from clay, properly applied to the human body, far outstrip that of any other natural product sold on the world market today. Third, this is a renewable resource, but it takes at least twenty thousand years.
Q.What are some of the best use's for Glacial Clay.
A.First of all the clay is widely used as a facemask to exfoliate away dead skin. Because of the reaction between positive ions and negative ions a great rejuvenation takes place. This leaves the skin soft and smooth and ready for any foundation or cosmetic the client wishes to use. There has been great acceptance of full body wraps in the European and North American Spa's. There are people using Glacial Clay for other ailments. I caution everyone that there is no medical evidence or studies, for or against, to suggest that this product will cure any of these ailments. Any use of this product as a remedy to cure the following is entirely at the customer's risk. Acne in adolescents, oily skin, greasy hair, insect bites, burns, scalds, bruises and many animal ailments such as mange in dogs and treating strains in race horses.

Glacial Marine Clay is simply ancient sediment, which happens to make people feel good.
